One method for understanding Marriage (Christ and the Church)

The scriptures tell us plainly that marriage is to model Christ and the Church ( http://tinyurl.com/yc3b8k9x ).

In my attempt to gain a coherent, true and honest doctrine on marriage I will do the following.  I will post scriptures which depict interactions or relational destinctions between Christ and the Church.  I will also add in parentheses "husband" or "wife" next to the words "Jesus" or "church".  I do this for consideration and obviously not to add to scripture.  It's a thought exercise which I feel confident will help me divide the true teaching about marriage away from the cultural twisting of such.

Here goes.

"Ephesians 2:20-22

Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus (husband) himself as the chief cornerstone.

In him (husband) the whole building (wife) is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.  And in Him (husband) you (wives) too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his spirit."
